Hemp seeds are drug-free and extremely nutritious. They can be eaten whole, pressed into edible oil like soybeans, or ground into flour for baking. They are one of the best sources of vegetable protein. Hemp seed has the second highest amount of protein of any food (soy being the highest).

Hemp seed protein closely resembles the protein found in the human blood, making it easier to digest than soy protein. They contain a full complement of essential amino acids, essential fatty-acids (EFA’S), and have been shown to lower blood cholesterol and dissolve plaque in coronary arteries. As a supplement to the diet, these oils can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Hemp is legal to grow and use in nearly every country in the world except for the United States where it still cannot be grown but can be purchased and used.

There are over 25,000 known uses for hemp. Food from hemp is one of my favorites ( skin and body care also, but that’s another article ) because hemp heals and I avoid drugs when natural options are available. Commonly-known health problems that hemp helps with are; nausea & vomiting, digestive problems, multiple sclerosis/muscle spasm disorders, spinal cord injuries, Chron’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Tourette’s syndrome, glaucoma, asthma, neurodegenerative disorders.

Hemp seeds are one of the earth’s best sources of easily digestible, high-quality protein. Hemp protein is great for all because proteins are a body’s most essential nutrients, helping you build and repair tissue and build lean muscle mass. 65% of hemp seeds protein is high-quality edestin, making them the highest vegan source of this simple protein that’s required for proper immune system function. The other 35% is albumin protein. With live enzymes intact, hemp’s digestible proteins are easily used in the body. Hemp protein is also a great alternative if you’re allergic to the proteins found in dairy and soy.

I wanted a healthy snack food with whole real food. I don’t believe healthy food has to taste bad. Forget the packaged granola bars and most all food in the grocer isles labeled “Cereal or Health Foods”.
